The International Building Code (IBC) is a model building code A model building code is a building code that is developed and maintained by a standards organization independent of the jurisdiction responsible for enacting the building code developed by the International Code Council The International Code Council , a membership association dedicated to building safety and fire prevention, develops the codes used to construct residential and commercial buildings, including homes and schools. Most U.S. cities, counties and states that adopt codes choose the International Codes, building safety codes developed by the (ICC). It has been adopted throughout most of the United States ^ b. English is the de facto language of American government and the sole language spoken at home by 80% of Americans age five and older. Spanish is the second most commonly spoken language.
