Q. The origin of Freemasonry is a matter of debate amongst historians. I was just reading the wiki page about it and as usual, a flash of insight occurred. It s an organization that decided to use the tools and techniques of one particular trade to symbolize the ideals of the organization - stonemasonry. They could have used any other trade to achieve this like carpentry, boat builders, painters, electricians well, not so much electricians, but I m sure you get my point. The fact is they chose the trade of stonemasonry to symbolize their organizations ideals - the square and the compasses. Why stonemasonry?
